Prayer for Meekness | God, I’m Frustrated

Father God,

I’ve been falling short on my meekness journey.

I feel like my husband has been digging at me, withdrawing easily, being close-minded, and cutting me off.

I found myself trying to defend myself rather than letting You defend me.

Holy Spirit, I need your help, because I know I’m doing the wrong thing given his responses to me.

He keeps calling me defensive.

For the last couple of days, we’ve argued, or there’s just been silence when we are alone.

My heart is hurting, and it’s growing hard and numb.

I don’t think, well, I know that’s not the way you want me to process things.

But I instantly move into self-protection/self-preservation mode.

Things were a lot better when I just kept quiet and didn’t focus on him. But these incidents keep catching me off guard.

Now, please, search my heart and expose any iniquity in me.

Holy Spirit, I know that this is a work that I can’t do in my flesh.

I need your help.

I don’t want to be fake, but I also don’t want to have visual tension, so I ask that you please work this out.

Also, sidenote, I don’t want to have to apologize. You may be working fast and showing pride, but honestly, I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong.

Well, the truth is I am doing wrong by being easily offended, but I really don’t want to say that.

Ugh, God, I really don’t like (because hate is a strong word) being the bigger person.

I also have to be introspective and apologetic, and I don’t like that because, since he is the husband, I think he should do it first.

Oh, I forgot to mention, he didn’t have my back, especially with people who don’t matter.

It feels like he’s taking other people’s side over mine when I’m the one being wronged by them.

He’s saying that’s not what’s going on, but I beg to differ. He also says I’m the problem, and I want to mention that.

Either way, God, lead my steps today, and please help me to close my mouth and soften my heart towards him.

I don’t like having anger pinned up.

So I release all of this to You, Father.

Forgive me for my sins.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
