Here are 15 practical and powerful ways to grow your faith, starting today.
1. Pray Often
- Repent
- Confess your sins
- Express gratitude
- Seek His guidance and advice
This prayer is a great place to start.
Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT)
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
2. Rebuke the Spirit of Fear in Your Life
Fear and faith can’t coexist. Remember, God is El Shaddai, the Almighty God. Stand firm in this truth and resist the spirit of fear.
Genesis 17:1 (NLT)
“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am El-Shaddai—God Almighty. Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.'”
If you’re battling fear, it’s vital that you understand your faith is under attack. Fear isn’t just a feeling or emotion—it’s a spirit that is not from God.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and sound mind.”
Today, I stand with you in your faith journey. Remember:
- You serve and belong to El Shaddai
- You have no reason to fear
- Embrace your faith journey and let it guide you through life’s challenges
James 4:6–7 (NLT)
“And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
- Resist the devil (and the spirit of fear)
- Use scripture often
- Turn your situation over to the Father
- Ask Him to increase your faith in Jesus’ name
3. Get Around Other Believers
Hebrews 10:25 says, “Forsake not the assembling of yourselves and encourage one another.”
- You can’t fight the good fight of faith alone
- God designed us for community
- Let go of the relationships that hinder your walk with God
4. Fall in Love with the Bible
You gain faith by hearing and studying the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
If reading the Bible feels overwhelming:
- Start small — one verse a day
- Try the Book of John (for learning about Jesus)
- Try Psalms (for healing)
- Use audio Bible apps while cooking or driving
God speaks through His Word—the more you read, the more you’ll hear Him.
5. Be a Doer of the Word
Faith without works is dead.
James 2:14 (NLT)
“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions?”
6. Don’t Doubt What God Has Said
Have you ever heard God clearly and then begun to doubt yourself? This may be the enemy.
John 10:27-28 says that God’s sheep know His voice.
- Submit what you’ve heard in prayer
- Align it with scripture
- Let it give you courage
7. Live Righteously
Sin is a heavy weight that holds you down (Hebrews 12:1).
- It’s like an anchor while trying to swim
- It blocks the flow of faith and power
- Ask God to help you live blamelessly
8. Just Believe
Mark 9:23 — “All things are possible to those who believe.”
If you’ve lost hope:
- Read encouragements like 15 Things Killing Your Faith in God
9. Move Out of the Way
Let God be in control. You must let Him be in control to grow your faith in God. God doesn’t need you to invest your time as the Head of Research and Department and the Vice President or CEO of Quality Control in your life. God is way more qualified than you to lead your life, and you need to allow Him to do the work required to bring about the desires of your heart and His.
- He doesn’t need you as CEO of your life
- Surrender your schedule, plans, and outcomes to Him
- Trust His timing and ability
10. Stop Considering Your Limitations
One day, God revealed I was struggling with pride and vanity. I looked up the definition:
“Excessive pride in or admiration of one’s appearance or achievements.”
I realized:
- I only tackled what I thought I could accomplish on my own
- I wasn’t depending on God’s power
Scriptures to Meditate On:
- Jeremiah 32:17 – “Nothing is too hard for God.”
- Matthew 19:26 – “With God all things are possible.”
- Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
11. Stand on the Promises of God Found in His Word
You don’t have to know a thousand scriptures to do this. It’s easier than you may think. All you have to do is start with a topic and get to googling!
Here’s an example: let’s say you’re struggling with faith. Search “15 scriptures to help build my faith” or “7 Scriptures about Joy.” Maybe you can try “11 Promises Found in the Bible.”
Once you find the verses that resonate with you, write them down in your journal and repeat them to God in prayer!
- Start with a topic (faith, joy, peace, etc.)
- Search for scriptures online
- Write them down in your journal
- Repeat them in prayer
12. Pray the Scriptures
Isaiah 55:11 — “God’s Word will not return void.”
- Find Bible promises
- Saturate your prayers with them
- Speak them out loud
Example:
Feeling anxious? Pray Philippians 4:6–7:
“Lord, help me not to worry about anything today. I give You every burden on my heart. Thank You for being my peace.”
Use the verses you found in example #11 and turn them into prayers today!
13. Be Honest with God
- Your prayer journal should be real
- Confess your sins, doubts, and frustrations
14. Praise Him
Psalm 150:6 — “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
- Praise Him before, during, and after the breakthrough
- Praise lifts your spirit and strengthens your faith
15. Faith Is a Journey
- God is inviting you into deeper trust
- He will meet you every step of the way
Let’s grow together—on purpose, with intention, and with God leading the way. Which one of these spoke to you?
